The Ultimate Guide to Napa on Bikes

Napa Valley Bike Tours, born from Napa Valley Cyclery, offers scenic bike rentals and guided tours. Pedal-assist E-Bikes and the Vine Trail boost accessibility. Enjoy the landscape, taste wines, and savor moments on two wheels.

Napa Valley Bike Tours began as an outgrowth of a local bike shop, Napa Valley Cyclery, which opened in Napa in 1987. Demand from tourists nudged the original owner into offering bike rentals and later tours. It may be hard to believe, but tastings were free along the first guided bike tour routes that included stops at Caymus and Pine Ridge.

Today, pedal-assist E-Bikes and the development of the Napa Valley Vine Trail have made bicycling in Napa more popular and accessible than ever. And while the tastings may no longer be free, the views of Napa Valley from the seat of a bicycle are priceless!

Uniquely Engaging: Riding a bike is an activity that requires travelers to put their smartphone down and truly be in the moment. While touring Napa by bike, visitors engage all their senses: from feeling the wind in their hair and the sun on their back, to tasting the wines and taking in the gorgeous scenery.

Two Locations: Napa Valley Bike Tours offers bike rentals in Downtown Napa (inside Napa Valley Bike Shop) as well from their flagship Yountville store. The two locations are 9 miles apart along the Napa Valley Vine Trail. They are the only rental outfitter that offers visitors the unique experience of riding point-to-point along the Vine Trail (additional bike relocation fee applies).

Experienced Local Guides: Guided E-Bike Tours are hosted by a team of local Tour Guides who are eager to enhance your appreciation of the grapes-to-glass process and help diffuse any pretense when it comes to wine tasting. They're also keen to share their favorite spots for photo ops along your route. Two core tour experiences are offered: A Half-Day Tour visits one winery and concludes by 1:30pm; a Full-Day Tour includes two winery visits and a picnic picnic catered by Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery.

Go Electric (or Not): A full 40% of Napa Valley Bike Tours' guests opt for pedal-assist E-Bikes. Three levels of pedal-assist drive a motor that amps the rider's pedaling effort so they can ride farther and faster than they would on a regular bike, without having to break a sweat. That said, Napa Valley Bike Tours' most popular routes are in the 10-15 miles range and entirely along the valley floor, which is mostly flat to gently rolling. So, riders aiming for a little more exercise will find that a 10-speed Cruiser Bike will fit the bill while still offering a lightweight and efficient ride. Performance road bikes, kids bikes, trailers and tag-alongs are also available for rental.

Valuable Planning Tools: When bike rentals are reserved in advance, Napa Valley Bike Tours' sends their guests a Planning Guide that contains all of the tools and information needed to plan a great day on two wheels.

Private Groups: Leisure and corporate groups can turn to Napa Valley Bike Tours to customize a private experience suited to the needs and objectives of their group.

With options and services for everyone from recreational bikers to advanced cyclists, the team at Napa Valley Bike Tours aims to make the time their guests spend on two wheels their favorite memory from their visit to Napa Valley.
