Yountville’s North Block has launched some new offerings this May and June, with tasty bites, a month of rose, and local vendors.
The North Block hotel has 20 guest rooms and a revamped restaurant presenting a shareable, seasonal menu spotlighting locally sourced ingredients from farms, fisheries, and foragers in the region.
Utilizing live-fire and open-hearth cooking techniques, the culinary team crafts dishes that epitomize the essence of California cuisine.
Since its relaunch a year ago post-renovation, the restaurant has honed its focus on signature dishes inspired by coastal and valley flavors, complemented by stone-baked flatbreads and homemade pasta.
Under the guidance of Executive Chef Juan Cabrera, formerly of the Chandon winery, the menus reflect a blend of accessibility and Napa Valley flair.
The dining area boasts captivating, open-air views of North Block's verdant courtyard, setting the stage for a leisurely dining experience in Yountville. Enhancing the ambiance is an ombre wall skillfully hand-painted by acclaimed local artist Caroline Lizarraga.
As of May 3, North Block’s courtyard will become a lively hub from 3 to 5 p.m. every Thursday featuring a rotating roster of local female winemakers offering complimentary rosé tastings for "Rosé All May." This al fresco experience, dubbed the “sip 'n shop,” pairs perfectly with locally crafted artisan jewelry, making it an ideal prelude to dinner or a post-wine-tasting indulgence.
“As we head into the summer months, our Thursday evenings in North Block’s central courtyard will be dedicated to celebrating talented local female winemakers,” said Tim Harmon, CEO of Palisades Hospitality and Mosaic Hotel Group. “We invite the locals and visitors alike to savor the longer days with us in Yountville.”
Indulge in a selection of "The Happiest Hour" bites, including crispy artichoke hearts with roasted garlic aioli, oysters accompanied by lemon and thyme and black pepper mignonette, house-made hot sauce, the 6757 'Secret' Chicken featuring crunchy chicken tenders paired with rosemary aioli, margherita or mushroom flatbread, and The Burger, a prime beef patty in a brioche bun with cheddar, caramelized onions, and jalapeno escabeche.
Beginning June 1, The Restaurant at North Block will introduce a “Locals Who Lunch” menu, available seven days a week. This special is tailored with locals in mind, offering a three-course, prix-fixe lunch paired with wine or low-ABV cocktails, served Wednesday to Sunday for $45.
The first course consists of Chef Cabrera’s farm salad, featuring Tenbrink Farm greens adorned with local shaved vegetables and drizzled with Banyuls vinaigrette. For the second course, diners can select from coastal-inspired options like Tuscan shrimp scampi, served alongside white cannellini beans, tomatoes, frisée and a zesty lemon butter sauce, or indulge in spring gnocchi, prepared with asparagus, English peas, shallots, and oyster mushrooms. The third course is a sweet finale with lemon tart, boasting lemon curd, Italian meringue, and pistachio crumble atop an Ovis Mollie Crust.
Maureen Bell, restaurant manager at North Block said, "We are excited to bring vibrant programs to the north side of town and give our guests and locals more opportunities to sip, mingle, dine, and experience The Restaurant at North Block."
