Napa Valley’s Restaurant Week will be Jan. 19-28. It was originally aimed at locals mostly during the off season and featured $19 lunches and $29 or $39 dinners. No more. Most of these may be specials, but few are bargains. Our tourists patterns are changing, and I suspect most restaurants are hoping to snag tourists too.
There is some good news. You can still get a three-course lunch at Empress M for $20. It consists of potstickers, Empress citrus chicken with steamed rice and Chinese broccoli plus a sesame ball for dessert. They even throw in hot tea. I’m definitely up for that.
The Q has a three-course $30 dinner of deviled eggs, three pieces of Southern fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy and collard greens plus a mini key lime pie in a mason jar. My family is from Alabama. You know I’m trying that!
There are some other good deals, too, especially considering usual restaurant prices in Napa Valley. One was too much, however.
Many restaurants offer special prices on wine pairings, too, or free corkage.
Visit the list from Visit Napa Valley for late additions and details. The restaurants there are sort of random for fairness to their members so I created a version by cities.
Don’t forget to make reservations. They’ve become necessary even on off nights in the off season when the restaurants aren’t making special deals, so you certainly are likely to need them this week:
